You can find out more about Elektro here -- including the fact that 'he' once appeared in a movie called Sex Kittens go to College...

Gretchen Kramp Ceramic Tiles

Individual, hand-crafted ceramic tiles from Gretchen Kramp. Gretchen's work comes in a variety of colours, by the way -- the 'Green Theme' is entirely coincidental, as I seem to have a bit of a thing for the colour green these days...

Wolfmother $38.00; Mothwoman $28.00 Monkey Trio $48.00

The Loss of 'Home'

Here's a really touching video about the loss of a family home. The house in the film was flooded by water during Hurricane Katrina and mistakenly torn down the following year. The filmmaker was the third generation of his family to live in the house, which was designed and build by his grandparents in the 1950's. The film captures the 'bittersweet' memories we can have in relation to times and places long gone.

Terry Graziano Hats

Ever since I made that 'I'm not a hat person' statement last year I've been finding some sweet headwear that's making me have a bit of a re-think. These two little lovelies are from Terry Graziano -- I think I'd like one in a really dark charcoal or a green that is so dark that it looks like black (if you get what I mean).

Also -- thanks to Terry's Blog -- I've found Design for Mankind, which I think I'm going to enjoy visiting.

We Love Pequitobun!

I loved my Wave Goodbye to my Handsome Sailor bracelet so much that I headed back to Pequitobun's Etsy shop to see what other goodies she had in store. But alas and alack -- she's saving her new designs for the launch of her brand new website which opens in April!

Mmm -- I'll be keeping my eye on her blog to find out what other little beauties I can get my hands on.

The Roses Of Heliogabalus

The Roses of Heliogabalus -- Lawrence Alma-Tadema

I like the lavish abundance of this. I'd never heard of Alma-Tadema before I came across his painting When Flowers Return on Julia Kerr's ArtMagick website.

Your Funeral and my Trial

Sonny Boy Williamson: Your funeral and my trial -- because I really love this and because I'm trying to play the harmonica -- and the total lack of any musical ability whatsoever will not stop me.

Mooka Kinney via Girls Gone Styled

I think Abby Kalicks and Faran Krentcil's Girls Gone Styled has the potential to be more than a little bit addictive anyway but I love them all the more now that they've introduced me to the wonderful world of Mooka Kinney.

Creepy Mannequins

We used mannequins a lot in the very early days of Larkin & Catcher -- and the freakier the better as far as I was concerned. I think now that the mannequins were too distracting, and we use them a lot less now -- though I don't think we'll ever really phase them out totally (we've a few really weird ones that we haven't used yet). I can definitely see why people think mannequins are a bit creepy but I still kind them kind of fascinating -- especially the vintage ones from the 1920's -- 1950's.

Check out the Radical Mannequins post from Dark Roasted Blend and feast your eyes on some abandoned shop mannequins from Russia and the Ukraine, including these little sweeties:

Almost as nightmare-inducing as clowns -- that bald kid on the left is freaking me out.

The La Cucaracha Bag Arrives

You may recall that a while back I promised to get my hands on the brand new La Cucaracha bag from Hell's Belles Finishing School for Girls. Well, the wait is over and we've got some in stock over at the Larkin & Catcher store. I've taken one of these little beauties for my very own and I'm not giving it up until it's prised from my cold dead fingers.
