One Human Life -- Gone

One of my very first favourite photoblogs is no more. Gayla from Making Happy: one human life has brought down the shutters and is moving on. I'm always a little saddened when a blog I like closes shop. Something to do with anxiety related to the impermanence of life, no doubt -- I like moving away and starting afresh but it makes me kind of nervous when others do it.

I love Gayla's photographs; the subject matter is mostly unremarkable in itself but there's often a poignancy in the images. She seems to focus a lot on what's left behind, the remnants of the lives of people who have also moved on. I've always felt there was something special about her work. So I'll overlook the fact that she doesn't like 'cute' and that she dislikes 'gender-related' words such as panties or purse (I spend a fair amount of time -- somewhere else -- writing about panties and suchlike) and keep an eye out for what Gayla is up to next.
